Ever Accountable alternatives for iPhone
If you want protection without a partner reading weekly reports, Apple's free Screen Time filter and Open Book (our app) block on the iPhone itself and send nothing to anyone. If you want to keep a partner but change the method, Covenant Eyes, Accountable2You, Canopy and BlockerX each report to someone in a different way.

Updated October 2026. Disclosure: we make Open Book. We have tried to describe every option fairly. Facts below come from each product's own site and App Store listing, read on October 27, 2026.
What Ever Accountable does on iPhone
Ever Accountable is an accountability app: it shows your activity to people you choose. Its iPhone page describes how:
- On-device AI, no VPN. It looks at what is on screen in apps like Instagram, TikTok and YouTube and can show a warning. Blocking is something you can switch on, not its main job.
- Screen recording for apps. Apps that might show explicit content need its screen recording running first. You start it each time, and everyday apps like email can be exempted. Safari uses a browser extension instead.
- Weekly partner reports. Each item gets one of three concern ratings. You decide whether screenshots go in the report, and whether they are blurred.
- Tamper alerts. It relies on Apple's Family Controls, and its site says your partner hears about it if you remove permissions or delete the app.
Its pricing page lists $14.99 a month or $129 a year, with a 14-day free trial and a 90-day money-back guarantee. App Store rating: 4.1 from 1,016 ratings (US, as of October 27, 2026). Ever Accountable fits someone who wants another person to see their activity, including inside apps, and is willing to switch on screen recording to get that.
How we chose
We looked for iPhone options for two kinds of people: those who want protection without anyone reading reports, and those who want a partner but a different approach. Each one is checked against its maker's site and its US App Store listing, read on October 27, 2026. We did not test every app hands-on. We make Open Book, so weigh our view with that in mind. Prices and ratings are as published that day and change.
We wanted to summarize recent App Store reviews of Ever Accountable, but Apple's public review feed returned none, and the eight reviews on its App Store page span 2021 to 2026. That is too few to say what users generally report, so the next section is our own assessment instead.
What to weigh (our assessment, from each product's documented approach)
- An audience or not. Reports to a partner are Ever Accountable's core. If what you want is the block itself, a blocker with no reports is simpler.
- A step each time. Turning on screen recording before risky apps is part of how it covers apps. Tools built on Apple's Screen Time shields block apps without that step, but they can't see what is inside an app you allow.
- Cost. $129 a year is reasonable for reports and tamper alerts. Apple's filter costs nothing, and so does Open Book's basic blocking.
- VPN or not. Ever Accountable, Apple's filter and Open Book use no VPN. Accountable2You and BlockerX do, per their own pages.

Alternatives with no reports
Apple Screen Time
Go to Settings, Screen Time, turn on Content & Privacy Restrictions, then App Store, Media, Web, & Games, Web Content, Limit Adult Websites, and add sites under Never Allow (Apple's iOS 26 guide). It is free and uses no VPN, and the filter needs no one else to review it. It does not look inside apps. If you want a lock, ask someone you trust to set the Screen Time passcode. Our adult content guide covers the rest of the phone.
Open Book (we make it)
Open Book turns on that Apple filter in Safari whenever blocking is on, and blocks the apps, app categories and websites you choose with Apple's own picker. App exceptions keep the apps you rely on working. It adds a 30-day challenge, pauses of 15, 30 or 60 minutes, a private Activity log of event types and times, and an optional weekly recap built on your iPhone. Basic blocking is free, with an optional paid Strict mode that can lock blocking for days. It installs no VPN, needs no screen recording, and does not collect or share your browsing history. Compared with Ever Accountable it has no partner, reports, tamper alerts or in-app content detection, and it is not bypass-proof. It has no public App Store ratings yet. Accountable2You
Its iOS page describes VPN technology that records activity in any browser, and its pricing page says it does not block websites or filter content and does not capture screenshots. Partners get reports and optional instant alerts. Personal is $11 a month after a 10-day free trial. App Store rating for the Monitoring app: 3.7 from 258 ratings.
Canopy
Canopy's App Store listing says it inspects images, videos and websites before they appear and blocks explicit content. Adults can use it alone or with a human or AI Ally, who is notified when content is blocked or settings are lowered. Plans start at $8.33 a month billed annually, per its pricing page. App Store rating: 3.8 from 1,645 ratings. Much of the app is aimed at parents.
BlockerX
Its App Store listing describes blocking in Safari and Chrome, a panic switch, daily browsing reports to an accountability partner, and alerts if BlockerX is uninstalled or its VPN is disabled. App Store rating: 4.4 from 8,351 ratings. See our BlockerX alternatives for prices and reviews.
Which one fits
Choose Apple's setting or Open Book if you want the block and nobody reading your activity. Stay with Ever Accountable, or move to Covenant Eyes, Canopy or Accountable2You, if a partner seeing reports is what helps you. Read what each one records first. No tool you control yourself is bypass-proof. For more options, see the best porn blocker for iPhone and QUITTR alternatives.
