SMS Alerts — How You Opt In

What the program is

Open Book is a content-accountability app. A person using the app (the "seeker") can invite an adult they trust — an "accountability partner" — to receive simple, transactional text alerts about the seeker's device-protection status (for example: the device stopped checking in, the seeker requested a temporary pause, or the connection ended). The accountability partner is the only person who ever receives a text, and only after they opt in on the form below.

How consent is collected

1. Who opts in: the accountability partner — an adult the seeker personally chooses and invites. No one is added without their own action.
2. Where: the seeker shares a private, one-time invitation link (useopenbook.com/portal/accept?token=…). The partner opens it in a browser, loading the partner sign-up page reproduced below.
3. How: the partner sets a dashboard password. SMS alerts are optional. They can create their account without a mobile number, or choose the unchecked SMS-alert checkbox, enter their own mobile number, and submit that separate consent.
4. Result: only a number supplied with the explicit SMS opt-in is ever messaged. The seeker never enters or sees the partner's number.

This web form is the only SMS opt-in path. Consent is never bought, sold, shared, or transferred, and it is never required to create a partner account.
